Think of fun on the beach in Goa and one of the first names that comes to mind is Anjuna Beach. It is one of the most popular beaches in North Goa. The picturesque coconut palm lined beach in Bardez Taluka is just 18kms from Panaji, the capital of Goa. It can be easily reached by road from Panaji.
A few decades ago it was a secluded village till it was discovered by the Flower Children of the sixties or the hippies. The remnants of that age still fill the full moon nights with Acid House or rave parties on the beach. International tourists home in on Anjuna Beach even today for a lazy vacation in the sun.

The coastal village of Anjuna is, by far, north Goa’s most popular place after Calangute. The village has, however, become famous for the wrong reasons.
Few are aware that far from being just a paradise for ravers and pill poppers this village has a rich historical background. The word ‘Anjuna’ itself is derived from the Arabic word ‘Hanjuman’ which translates into ‘Chamber of commerce’. Anjuna was once upon a time an important trading post for the Arabs in India.
